Carpet and furniture

The rest of the carpet has now been fitted and suddenly the house looks like, well, a house.  It is surprising just what a difference carpet in the hall and lounge has made.  The place seems all 'joined up' now; the bare floor-boarding has disappeared (hooray) and come the cooler months, the carpet will be warm and cosy underfoot.

We have been tackling the on-going task of 'sorting out' with renewed enthusiasm.  Furniture can at long last been put where it belongs (in some cases they have been tried in a number of places before we felt it was just right) and the contents of bookcases and cupboards can be transferred from storage boxes.  More than once there has been the exclamation of "so that's where that got to!"  I think we have located everything we thought we had, and not, so far at least, found any surprises.  Gradually it's coming together and I think we are beginning to feel a little more settled.  It's all about making the house into a home.

We managed to create space in the garage again!

The weather has been a bit changeable the past couple of days, but rain will not go amiss in the garden.  And I've actually managed to do a little bit of sewing today - fixing some handles on a rescued bottle bag.  Well, it's a start.
