Back to painting

Once N had coved the kitchen there really was no excuse for me not to get painting again.

Before ...

... and after.  There is a difference!

I keep reminding myself that it is the last room to decorate.  I think it is probably just as well as we do seem to be running out of steam a little.  We will tackle the kitchen in our own time rather than feel under pressure to meet a deadline, but truth be told I think we just want to get it all done now.  We have decided on flooring and colour schemes, and with 2 or 3 hours' work each day, we should be sorted in a week or so.

We've had some fairly honest discussions about the house over the past few days and we are clearer in our minds how it will pan out for us.  Hopefully the next fortnight will have news that should make things a little easier for us and with that, a slightly calmer and more positive state.

I'm doing my best to deal with some of the outstanding paperwork that has accumulated recently; sending letters, making phone calls and filing/shredding.  I'm also trying to get some order in the little bedroom/sewing room (not quite there at the moment but I persevere!) - lots of tiny tasks which have been piling up, none of which take very long and each one clears a small space.  Keep plodding away seems to be the way of things at the moment.

I was up early enough this morning to capture this lovely sunrise

After the wonderful warm, sunny weather we enjoyed for so long, this week has seen the temperatures fall off quite noticeably.  And the evenings are pulling in - by 20.30 it's dusk, and we need a light to read by.  And it's still only August.  I'm not ready for it to be autumn yet.
