N has finished his latest project. He has made me a miniature set of drawers, beautifully veneered and lined. It sits on the chest of drawers in our bedroom, and is such a pleasure to look at. All my make-up, handcream, hairbrush etc fits inside; everything tidy and in one place. I'm chuffed to bits with it, and N is happy with his handiwork.
We've had the survey for the Energy Performance Certificate for the flat completed today; this has to be undertaken when a house is put on the market for sale. There's not much N and I can do now, we just have to sit and wait, and hope that we get some viewings. I know N is finding this quite difficult at the moment. I started painting the kitchen walls today - I would have done it even if we had not been moving - and it's certainly freshened the room up a little.
We had quite an eventful start to the day this morning, when we opened the bedroom curtains to find a fire-engine outside attending to a vehicle that had caught alight. Thankfully, no injuries at all, and the fire was extinguished quickly. It was interesting, and reassuring, to see how swiftly and competently the incident was dealt with, with firefighters, police and highways engineers all involved.
And now for the exciting news! My son M is currently on holiday in New Zealand with his girlfriend J. I had a text from him this evening to say they're having an amazing time .... and that he has 'popped the question' to J!!! Oh, I am so thrilled for them both, they are a lovely couple and clearly very happy together. My daughter phoned shortly after to check I'd heard - she's excited, too!
Now, is a hat obligatory for the mother of the groom?!!
