We got back yesterday evening after another lovely holiday in Orkney. It's gets a little harder to come home every time.
I had intended to blog whilst we were there but there was a bit of a technical glitch with the iPad, and my best intentions didn't materialise, so over the next few days I shall try to give a flavour of our holiday, together with some of the several hundred photos we took between us.
In the meantime, a quick round-up.
The quiche I so carefully made to take with us got left in the fridge (we only realised when it was too late, of course), but all was not lost as it came in very handy for last night's meal! Neither of us has come down with food poisoning yet, so I'm assuming it was fine.
Everything in the garden has been growing away whilst we've been north, and thanks to our very lovely neighbour, who has been giving the veggies a drop of water from time to time, nothing wilted or died in our absence. This morning I cropped the first of the spinach and blanched the leaves in the microwave before freezing in portions. I'm off out in a minute to tackle the weed-infested path before they all set seed.
We heard a few days ago that the couple who came to view the flat decided to buy in another town, although they did like our flat very much. We just have to be patient and philosophical about it. We did see a house in Orkney which we would have been very tempted by if we had sold, but perhaps it's just not meant to be.
Anyway, I'm concentrating on the practical things at the moment - the weather it warm and sunny, and the third lot of washing is about to go out on the line. I'm just not thinking about the ironing ;)
